The Antioch Historical Society Receives the
Governor's Historic Preservation Award for 2008!

The Governor's Historic Preservation Award for 2008 was awarded to the Antioch Historical Society on November 21, 2008 at a reception in the Leland Stanford Mansion in Sacramento. The award was given in recognition of the restoration and preservation of the Riverview Union High School building, circa 1910, now used as the Antioch Historical Society Museum and the Sports Legends Hall. The high school was the first built in all of Contra Costa County. Prior to that most students only received an 8th grade education or a few very small high school classes were held in elementary school buildings. The building is one of only three buildings in Antioch on the State and National Registry of Historic Sites. The other two are the Hard House on First Street and the Williamson Ranch House on Lone Tree Way.
