Art Event Culminates Eight Weeks of Free Visual and Performing Arts Classes

The art works of sixteen very talented preschoolers who, along with  their parents, recently completed a free performing and visual arts program will be on display. The young artists’ inaugural show will include displayed, framed art as well as special dance and music performances for their parents and the public to enjoy.   At the end of the performance, the young artists will receive graduation certificates.

The art show is the culmination of a free eight-week arts program coordinated by the City of Walnut Creek’s Fine Arts Preschool and hosted by Providers Partnering for Children at the West Rivertown Kids-Eden Center.   The program, which is funded by First 5 Contra Costa, provides free arts classes for children and workshops for parents on fostering creative development in their children.

Arts instruction, including music, song, dance and painting play an important role in the healthy development of young children, but arts programs are often considered a luxury for families due to cost.  This program is helping to make the arts available to some of Contra Costa’s highest need children and helping parents to engage their children in fun and positive early learning experiences as they prepare to enter kindergarten.

The Lynn House Gallery is located in the Rivertown District at 809 W. 1st Street in Antioch (across from the Amtrak Train Station) and is open during exhibits from 12 noon – 5 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and admission is free.
