On
March 1, 2006, a community-wide meeting was held to organize a Sports
Legends Program in the Antioch
Historical Society Museum. Led by Eddie Beaudin, Jim Boccio, Leo Fontana, Tom Menasco & Dave Sanderson, over 40
Antioch boosters joined the group in the first 90 days.
Four sub-committees make up the organizational structure of the program:
Research, achievement and recognition
Display and artifact development
Finance, budget and fundraising
Public relations & recruitment
Mission Statement:
Recognition of our community’s sports legends of the past, present and
future in all sports and genders.
Representation of the "Best of the Best" athletes in professional,
college and high school sports, as well as the significant history of our
youth programs, community teams, individuals, facilities, and historical
achievements and contributions.
Focus on attracting community involvement, recognizing and developing
high-profile events, and involving the youth of our community.
Our Vision:
A 750 sq ft display area on the lower level of the museum that
encompasses the hallway and a classroom.
