Nancy Roberts: "Inspired by Jazz"
May 5 - May 26, 200
7
Artist Reception: May 5th, 4-6 PM

Jazz musicians improvise with musical colors.  Their music is from the heart, swinging with a blend of structure and freedom, precision and playfulness.  Familiar tunes become something new and exciting with each performance.

Nancy Roberts's paintings are improvisations, too, "like giving reality a little twist -- heightening color, streamlining shapes, weaving syncopated patterns through the design.  Unfolding like a fast-paced jazz solo, each painting is a joyful exploration of harmony, rhythm and spirit".

Nancy Roberts is a working artist, art instructor, retired architect and former curator of the Antioch Lynn House Gallery.  With many exhibits and awards to her credit, Nancy's pastels, oil paintings, acrylics and watercolors are in public and private collections across the country.  She is an avid plein air painter, and has been invited to participate in several regional events including the Carmel Art Festival, Alameda's Jewel by the Bay, and the Scene on the Strait in Martinez.  She is represented by Valley Art Gallery in Walnut Creek
