Celebrating Couples Exhibit features a pair of highly accomplished and
successful Bay Area artist couples.
Huihan Liu
is a renowned artist. Huihan is a Master Signature member
of the Oil Painters of America and an artist member of the
California Art Club. Huihan Liu was trained in the
Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art in China in 1972 with a BA
and MFA from the Academy of Art College of San Francisco
in 1989. With more than twenty years of a professional
career as an illustrator, teacher, and painter, he won the
Best of Show award in the Oil Painters of America Regional
Exhibition in 1996. Huihan Liu was featured in Art of the
West magazine in May 1997, in The Artist’ Magazine in
April 1999, and in Southwest Art in April 2000.
Weizhen Liang
is a member of the Oil Painters of America. She earned a
BA in the major of Chinese Literature from Ji Nan
University of Guang Zhou in China. She showed an early
interest in art and studied with her aunt, Zhong An-Zhi, a
famous painter and professor in the Guangzhou Academy of
Fine Art. In 1998, Weizhen began studying painting
seriously from her husband Huihan Liu.
Ray
Roberts
is one of California’s most respected Plein Air artists.
He recently won the Gold Medal for “Best Painting” at the
California Art Club and the Artists’ Choice Award, the
highest accolade from fellow artists, at three major
southwest art events. He is best known for his seascapes,
figurative work, and majestic views of California and the
Southwest.
Peggi Kroll-Roberts
is an award winning artist. She trained at Arizona State
University and at the Art Center College of Design in
Pasadena, California. Peggi worked as a fashion and
advertising illustrator before making the transition into
fine art. Using intense color and value to accentuate her
subject, she moved into art with a bold palette, a love of
small paintings and a very loose style that achieves a lot
with a few very energetic brush strokes. She prefers to
suggest reality rather than render it.
